Energy and Territory Meeting
The Energy and Territory Meeting is an event organised in partnership between E-REDES and RNAE - the Association of Energy and Environment Agencies (National Network), with the aim of promoting the discussion of issues relevant to the electricity sector, in a decentralised way and close to the players with an active role to play in the necessary energy transition.
The 5th edition of the Energy and Territory Conference will take place on 13 October at the University of Coimbra.
4th edition
The 4th edition of the Energy and Territory Conference took place on 5 November at the University of Aveiro, bringing together various organisations to discuss “Territorial Cohesion in the Age of the Energy Transition”. Organised in partnership with RNAE, the meeting highlighted the role of electricity grids in the electrification, decarbonisation and resilience of regions, addressing topics such as renewable energy, energy communities, self-consumption and innovation, with a focus on the need for a balanced energy transition that is accessible to all regions.
3rd edition
The 3rd edition of the Energy and Territory Conference took place on 9 October at the University of Beira Interior (UBI) in the municipality of Covilhã. Organised in partnership with RNAE – the Association of Energy and Environment Agencies (National Network), this conference promoted discussion on energy in Portugal, attended by various experts, academics and representatives from public and private bodies, in search of more sustainable solutions. This meeting focused on the Just Energy Transition, addressing topics such as “Cities of the Future” and “Energy Poverty”. At this meeting, the completion of the installation of 6.4 million smart meters was announced, highlighting the logistical success of the project and the need to prepare the grid for the energy transition in Portugal.
2nd edition
The 2nd edition of the Energy and Territory Meeting, organised with the support of the University of Évora, took place in that city on 10 November 2023. Relevant topics were discussed to address the challenge of the Energy Transition in Portugal, namely: how efficiency in the construction of buildings can contribute to mitigating energy poverty; to what extent Energy Communities are changing the traditional paradigm of the electricity sector; and what challenges the Municipal Climate Action Plans bring to our country.
1st edition
On 15 December 2022, the 1st Energy and Territory Meeting was held at the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu, with the presence of the Secretary of State for Energy, representatives from various Energy Agencies, ADENE (Energy Agency) and various Intermunicipal Communities on various panels, allowing for reflection on the most important challenges facing the energy sector in Portugal. The topics debated in the first edition concerned distributed generation, electric mobility and financing the Energy Transition.
