Connecting Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Find out what to do if you want to connect an Electric Vehicle Charging Station to the network

An Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) can be installed in a private space (Home/Workplace/Residential Condominium/Parking Lots) or in a public space (Public Road).

The connection of an EVCS in a public space requires a network connection request, and, in the case of the connection of an EVCS in a private space, the following cases may occur:

  • Space does not have a network connection, so it will be necessary to make a network connection request;
  • The space is located within a utilisation facility, connected to the network and available for the installation of the EVCS, so no changes will be necessary on the network side;
  • Space is inside a utilization facility, with connection to the network and with no availability for the EVCS installation, so it will be necessary to make a network connection request for power increase.

In addition to the connection to the electricity network, any EVCS to be installed in public space, or deliberately integrated in the electric mobility network, must comply with the legislation in force. For more information about the electric mobility network, please contact the Electric Mobility Network Management Entity (Mobi.e).

Low Voltage
Connection conditions

Make your request for a low-voltage connection or power increase. For connecting EVCSs in public places, usually suitable for slow chargers, or in private residential places or those already connected to low voltage.

Low voltage
Simulation

Simulate the cost of connecting to the low voltage network.
E-REDES provides a simulator to help you understand what is the estimated cost of connecting your company to the low voltage network.

Medium Voltage
Connection conditions

Make a request to connect your premises to medium voltage (MV). For connecting EVCSs in public places, usually suitable for fast chargers, or in private non-residential places for charging several electric vehicles (fleets) or already connected to medium voltage.
