Why are we asking this question?

Experience and routine can lead to a tendency to underestimate risks.

When this happens, steps are skipped and decisions are made without checking that safety conditions are in place.

This campaign emphasises the importance of stopping and checking before starting any work.

What you should check before you start
Before starting any work, please check the following four points:
Identified risks
Have you identified the risks associated with the work you are going to carry out?
Safety conditions verified
Does the site meet the safety requirements for carrying out the work?
Personal protective equipment provided
Do you use the appropriate PPE, which is in good condition and correctly fitted?
Planned work
Do you know what you need to do, how to do it, and in what order?

Only when the answer to all these questions is “yes” is everything, absolutely everything, fine.

If any answer is “no” or if you have any doubts, stop. Assess the situation. Make the necessary corrections. Only then should you move forward.
