The launch date for the second auction of flexibility services in Portugal's electricity distribution network has been set. Between 1 September and 10 October 2025, electricity network users will be able to bid on how much they are willing to receive for providing flexibility services, i.e. the possibility of adjusting energy consumption and/or injection according to network operating needs.

As part of the FIRMe regulatory pilot project, this auction covers 17 different opportunities in different areas of mainland Portugal, which are available for consultation here. On this platform, any consumer, producer or other market agent can now register and subsequently register their assets in order to be eligible to participate in the auction.

Once the auction is closed, E-Redes will sign contracts with the future flexibility service providers, which will come into force in January 2026 and will be valid for two years.
