E-REDES has concluded the second local flexibility auction for the energy market in Portugal, and the results are now available on the platform PICLO.
The initiative involved 23 service providers, involving 163 qualified assets, out of a total of 195 qualified assets among the more than 2,000 registered on the platform. Bids totalled 82.9MW, distributed across 163 facilities. This group includes 41 industrial customer facilities, 94 facilities operated by aggregators, 15 electric vehicle charging station operators, 7 storage facilities and 6 producers.
Throughout the process, 4117 bids were registered in the various service windows, a volume approximately seven times higher than that seen in the first auction.
The 17 zones considered include three types of products. The Dynamic product offers greater predictability and is mainly used during periods of network maintenance work. The Secure product is based on estimates that guide congestion management at specific points in the network. The Restore product, on the other hand, is activated in extraordinary situations associated with restoring the network after unexpected events.
E-REDES plans to accept 82% of the bids submitted, corresponding to the most competitive offers and those most aligned with the network's flexibility needs. By the end of 2025, the technical validation and qualification of providers will take place, followed by the formalisation of contracts. The operational use of these contracts is scheduled for January 2026.
