Grid Connection Conference: New Challenges for Electric Mobility
On 1 June, E‑REDES organised an event in Lisbon that brought together industry experts and organisations to discuss the evolution of grid connections within a changing electricity system.
The sub-section breaks down the consumption figures for electric mobility

Sub-metering allows for the independent measurement of electricity used at charging points, even when they are connected to the main supply. This model is introduced under Decreto‑Lei n.º 93/2025.

The presentation highlighted the changes to the electric mobility model, in which sub-metering is presented as one of the possible options, though its implementation is not mandatory.

In practice, sub-metering creates an internal metering point with a new delivery point code (DPC). The process comprises three stages: application, certification and contract, and requires the validation of documents and certification of the installation.

Under this model, consumption associated with electric mobility is handled independently, without the need for a dedicated connection to the grid. This solution allows for more flexible management of charging and keeps pace with developments in the regulatory framework.
