The inauguration was attended by José Ferrari Careto, President of E-REDES; Luís Vital Alexandre, Mayor of Grândola; Ricardo Pinheiro, President of the Alentejo Regional Coordination and Development Commission; as well as representatives of the external partners responsible for the construction of the substation: TBT / JJ Tomé, Sotécnica, and Silva & Vinha.
With an investment of €4 million, this project contributes to strengthening service quality and supply security along the Alentejo coast, while also ensuring power supply capacity for the municipalities of Alcácer do Sul and Santiago do Cacém.
The works, started in June 2022 and completed in June 2026, included the construction of the HV/MV substation, the establishment of a new high-voltage line, and six medium-voltage outputs for connection to the existing network.
With an initial installed capacity of 20 MVA, the infrastructure has a direct impact on the electricity supply to the town of Grândola and its industrial area. Developed in line with E-REDES’ standard design, the substation is based on a modular and scalable solution supported by digital technology, and it is automated and remotely monitored.
Its future expansion capacity creates conditions to accommodate the expected growth in electricity consumption in the region.
