E-REDES held, on 10 September, in Lisbon, a workshop dedicated to the adoption of innovative technologies in the construction of high-voltage (HV), medium-voltage (MV), and low-voltage (LV) networks, as well as public lighting (PL), for overhead and underground networks. The initiative took place at the Fundação do Museu das Comunicações and brought together 140 participants, including E-REDES and various service providers.
n a context marked by growing investment needs in the electricity grid to address the challenges of the energy transition, the adoption of new technologies is playing an increasingly important role. These solutions can help increase project delivery capacity, reduce construction timelines, and make interventions more efficient and safer.
Throughout the session, concrete use cases related to these technologies were presented and discussed, including applications in high-voltage (HV), medium-voltage (MV), low-voltage (LV), and public lighting (PL) networks. The workshop also provided an opportunity to hear from professionals who work in the field on a daily basis, gathering experiences, challenges, concerns, and insights that can help support the effective implementation of these solutions in line with operational needs.
Advantages of adopting these solutions
In addition to reducing construction times, these technologies can bring benefits such as greater safety, improved operational efficiency, and reduced impact of interventions on site. E-REDES emphasizes that their adoption will always be carried out with technical rigor, based on clear specifications, team training, and operational follow-up.
The goal is to find new ways of executing work without compromising network safety, quality, or reliability.
Next steps
E-REDES will consolidate a gradual implementation roadmap, identifying priorities, training needs, technical criteria, and usage targets for 2026 and 2027. The objective is to turn innovation into standard practice whenever it delivers clear gains for operations, team safety, and the quality of the service provided.
