It was in 2018 that the development phase was completed and the testing and validation phase of the project "Prediction of Incidents in the National Distribution Network" began. This project, started in 2017 and developed in partnership with the Portuguese company SmartWatt (specialized in the development of optimization solutions for the energy sector), consists in the application of Machine Learning algorithms with the objective of, based on weather forecasts, providing a forecast of the expected number of incidents in the high and medium voltage network per geographical area, based on the associated risk level.

The models developed, based on various sources of information, have provided E-REDES with an innovative solution in operational support for decision making, contributing directly to improving the quality of service through the optimised allocation of resources in the field.
