Access to the distribution network

To get the energy from the production centres to the customers, we provide the suppliers the access to the distribution network.

Access to the network

In order for electricity to reach its customers from the generating centres, suppliers use the transmission and distribution networks. Operated by E-REDES, the latter is called "network access".

The suppliers must sign a contract with E-REDES to use the network, which includes general conditions approved by the Entidade Reguladora do Sistema Energético (ERSE). The right of access to the network may also be exercised by customers who purchase electricity directly from producers.

For this access, suppliers pay E-REDES a regulated tariff, approved by ERSE, taking into account the consumption of each of their customers.

Dynamic Tariffs

With the Dynamic Tariffs project, we are working to introduce improvements in the tariff structure and the location of the time periods that have been in force in recent years.

Aware of the importance of introducing new tariffs for network access, the Entidade Reguladora do Setor Energético (ERSE) commissioned E-REDES to promote the implementation of two pilot projects. These are aimed at assessing the impact of introducing changes to the current structure of network access tariffs and a new dynamic tariff.
