In 2018, Augmented and Virtual Reality was a major topic at E-REDES. Although the technology is relatively new, exponential growth is expected in its use in the energy sector.
Aware of the potential of this technology, in 2018, E-REDES began the year with an internal analysis of the opportunities for applying Augmented and Virtual Reality technology to its operational activities. Once the operational activities that could most benefit from this technology were identified, a pilot project on this topic was launched at the end of the year to validate the technology’s potential.
In this pilot project, which took place in 2019, the benefits of using augmented reality in simple tasks, such as remote assistance, or in more complex tasks, such as evidence collection or other supportive maintenance, were evaluated.
