EUniversal

The EUniversal project, funded by the European Union, aims to develop a universal approach on the use of flexibility by Distribution System Operators (DSO) and their interaction with the new flexibility markets, enabled through the development of the Universal Market Enabling Interface (UMEI) concept – a unique approach to promote interoperability across Europe.

The UMEI represents an innovative, agnostic, adaptive, modular and evolutionary approach that will be the basis for the development of new innovative services, market solutions and, above all, the implementation of the actual mechanisms for the active participation of the consumer, the prosumer and the energy community in the energy transition.

Goals

Enable the transformation of the energy system into a new multi-energy and multi-consumer concept ensuring a sustainable, secure and stable electricity supply.

Present a universal, adaptable and modular approach through a Universal Market Enabling Interface (UMEI) to interconnect the active management of the system with the electricity markets through the provision of flexibility services.

Define, develop and validate a set of market-oriented flexibility management services for distributed energy resources (DER) in a real-world environment under a major scenario of integration of renewable energy sources (RES) and high electrification scenario.

Demonstrate the services generated in the development phase of the project at 3 different sites, located in Portugal (PT), Germany (DE) and Poland (PL).

E-REDES Scope

E-REDES is the coordinator of the EUniversal Project. It leads the execution of the project with the other beneficiaries, in addition to the coordination of the following Work Packages as a consortium partner:

WP2 – Universal Market Enabling Interface – UMEI;

WP7 – PT Demo;

WP11 – Dissemination and Communication

WP12 – Project Management.
