E-REDES started the works to replace 329 conventional mercury vapour and sodium vapour luminaries with LED technology luminaries in the municipality of Guimarães, in order to promote energy efficiency.
In the parish of Lordelo, 79 luminaires have already been substituted along 2.5 km of National Road 105, while in the parish of Brito, 50 luminaires have been installed along 1.7 km of National Road 206. The work also led to the replacement of 20 luminaries in Arosa, to which must be added the 90 public lightings existing along 2.4 km of National Road 310, which crosses the parishes of Briteiros (Santo Estevão), Donim, Brito, Guardizela and Serzedelo.
It is expected that, by mid-December, the replacement of 30 luminaires on National Road 309, specifically in the parish of Briteiros (São Salvador), over an extension of about 1 km, will be completed, as well as the placement of 60 LED luminaires on National Road 310, between the parishes of Briteiros (Santo Estevão), Donim, Brito, Guardizela and Serzedelo.
Although this work is especially complex due to the need for specific licensing and the high level of automobile traffic in the sections in question, it will bring clear benefits in terms of traffic safety on these important access roads.
