E-REDES joins Montis in volunteer initiatives

The actions focus on ecological restoration and sustainable forest management.

In an effort to protect and enhance biodiversity, we joined Montis in 2 volunteer initiatives focused on ecological restoration and sustainable forest management.

These initiatives, carried out near the Santa Luzia Dam in Coimbra, aim to preserve the environment - from clearing and maintaining vegetation to promoting natural regeneration and creating Mediterranean woodlands.

Over the last three years, this type of initiative has generated tangible results:

- Around 8,100m² of soil previously occupied by invasive plants has been controlled and prepared for preservation and ecological enhancement in the course of these actions;

- Approximately 2,000 new native trees and shrubs have also been planted to promote a balance with the natural heritage.

The ambition for the future remains the same: to generate a positive impact on the territory and its various ecosystems. The goal is to clear up to 12,000m² of land by 2025, removing invasive vegetation that threatens biological diversity, and to plant up to 1,000 native trees and shrubs, thus restoring important ecosystems for the local fauna and flora.
